It is performed either using a closed procedure, where incisions are hidden inside the nose, or an open procedure, where an incision is made across the columella, the narrow strip of tissue that separates the nostrils. Following the surgery, a splint and/or packing may be placed inside your nose and a splint or bandages placed on the outside to support and protect the new structures during initial healing. After a week, the cast is painlessly removed, and it generally takes two weeks for most of the swelling and discoloration around the eyes to disappear. Numbness of the upper teeth and mild nasal blockage may be experienced for a few days to a few weeks. It will take around 2 - 4 weeks to completely heal from rhinoplasty surgery, however you can go back to work within 1-2 weeks.

• Take pain medication as per prescription.
• Do not blow your nose, and do not sneeze through your nose at all and instead cough it out.
• Strenuous exercise will not be allowed until the six weeks after the surgery.
• Contact your doctor immediately if you experience severe breathing problems.
• Do not lift heavy objects for several weeks and avoid sexual intercourse for two weeks.
