Consultation

A consultation will give you an opportunity to discuss your cosmetic goals with the doctor and understand the procedure details. You should be completely open with the doctor about your expectations, concerns and habits. Your medical history will be evaluated to determine candidacy for different procedures in extreme makeover.

In certain cases, your doctor might delay surgery, or you may not be recommended it altogether to avoid risks. Similarly, the doctor will also ask you to follow certain guidelines before the surgery, like stop smoking, avoid taking some medicines and maintain a healthy diet and exercise regularly.

Surgery

Extreme makeover surgery is performed under general anesthesia and the procedure takes about five to six hours. The procedure which earlier took two to three separate sessions can be done in a single sitting. Six of the most common surgeries performed under extreme makeover include:

• Breast Surgeries: Depending upon the requirement, you may choose to either go for breast augmentation, lift or reduction which will restore your breasts to their natural shape and size and achieve a symmetrical shape as per your expectation
• Liposuction: Using liposuction, it’s possible to remove your stubborn fat deposit from areas such as hips, legs, neck, abdomen and arms.
• Face/Neck Lift: This procedure is done to tighten the underlying muscles and connective tissues in the face or neck to remove excess skin and restore a youthful appearance.
• Eyelid Surgery: Both men and women opt for this surgery to reduce the puffiness and drooping by removing excess fat, skin and muscle from the upper or lower eyelids.
• Tummy Tuck: Also known as abdominoplasty, it’s done to eliminate excess fat and skin from the abdomen and restore the weakened muscles to create a firmer and smoother profile.
• Rhinoplasty: This surgery is performed for altering and reconstructing the nose. Nose surgery may also be done to improve breathing.

Post Surgery

When two or three of these procedures are combined, they take approximately five to six hours and need more than ten days of recovery. The benefit of combining surgery is that you have to undergo just one recovery period and can also achieve desired results at low cost. Surgeons do the extreme makeover only in cases where patients are in excellent physical health, with right candidates, age is no bar.

Following your makeover surgery, gauze or bandages will be applied to your incisions. An elastic bandage or support bra will minimize swelling and support the breasts. And yes, a variable degree of bruising and swelling should be expected with any surgical procedure which will heal within few weeks.

After Care

In order to have successful long-lasting results it is important to follow the below:

• Take medication as per your doctor’s prescription.
• You should limit driving, prolonged travel or flaying for at least two weeks after facial procedure.
• Refrain from exercise for at least four weeks.
• You should not smoke for at least two weeks after the surgery.
• Use the scar creams to minimize swelling or bruise.
• You can use light make-up after a week to hide or cover the bruise.
• It is important to attend your follow-up appointments in order to keep track of your progress.
