Your journey begins with a comprehensive consultation with one of our expert surgeons. During this appointment, you and your doctor will discuss your goals, medical history, lifestyle and habits to determine if a lip lift treatment is the right choice for you. You'll have the opportunity to ask questions and gain a clear understanding of the procedure and recovery process. Your surgeon may also take pictures of your lips so you can compare your results post-surgery.
Please keep in mind that our number one priority is always your well-being. For this reason, your surgeon may delay your lip lift procedure if you are pregnant or if you suffer from certain conditions such as diabetes or heart issues.
As part of surgery prep, the doctor may also advise you to follow specific guidelines like strictly avoiding anti-inflammatory drugs or medicines, such as aspirin, in order to reduce the risk of excess bleeding during surgery. Please consult your physician before stopping aspirin, blood thinners or any other prescribed medication.
The lip lift procedure is performed under general or local anaesthesia and takes about 30 minutes to an hour to complete.
Your surgeon will then make a small incision below the nose and remove a small amount of skin and tissue to shorten the distance between the nose and the upper lip and give your upper lip a more lifted and pouty appearance. The incision is then closed using fine sutures and scarring will be minimal or hidden.
Recovery time will vary from one patient to another, but most patients can resume normal activities within a few days.
Immediately following the lip lift procedure, you will experience swelling and bruising in the treatment area as well as some pain in the area, which will be relieved through the painkillers.
Within the first week following the procedure, swelling and bruising will gradually decline and you may need to wear a compression bandage for a few days. Your scar will also begin to fade and become less noticeable.
To maintain your results and promote proper healing, it's important to follow our aftercare instructions. Our expert medical team will guide you through every step of the lip lift aftercare process in detail. However, as a general overview of the process, you will likely need to follow the below guidelines in order to achieve successful long-lasting results:
- Take pain medication as prescribed by your doctor.
- Refrain from strenuous physical activity.
- Attend the follow-up appointments with your doctor to keep track of your progress.
- Wear compression garments as advised by your doctor.
