Liposuction Consultation

During your liposuction consultation, you will discuss your medical history with our plastic surgeon. We want you to be completely open with the doctor about your concerns, habits and expectations so that we can give you the best advice based on your needs.

Your surgeon will then take a look at the area that you are interested in treating, and may also take pictures and measurements of the area. After the surgeon's examination, they will advise you on the best possible liposuction technique to achieve your goal. The surgeon will then walk you through each step of preparing for the surgery and your recovery process. Please keep in mind that our number one priority is always your well-being. For this reason, your surgeon may delay your surgery if you are pregnant, suffer from certain conditions, such as diabetes or heart issues, or are overweight beyond the healthy limit. The doctor will also recommend doing some lab tests before the surgery to avoid any complications.

As part of surgery prep, the doctor will also advise you to follow specific guidelines like maintaining a healthy diet and exercise routine, stopping smoking at least three weeks before the surgery, and strictly avoiding certain medicines, in order to reduce the risk of excess bleeding during surgery.

Liposuction Surgery

Our liposuction procedures are performed in an outpatient setting under general anaesthesia. The procedure generally lasts for one to two hours and involves creating small incisions in treatment areas where a cannula (very thin tube) is inserted to remove unwanted fat. There are two different types of liposuction procedures which include:

Traditional Liposuction

With this liposuction technique, your surgeon will first administer a tumescent solution into the targeted area which works to minimise bleeding, expand the fatty tissue for easier removal, and numb the area for added comfort. Keep in mind, you will already be under general anaesthesia at this point and will not feel any pain. After the solution is administered, your surgeon will make a tiny incision big enough only to insert a cannula and the loosened fat cells are quickly vacuumed out to achieve your desired look. This technique is ideal for patients with extra fat deposits looking for an overall more sculpted appearance.

High-Definition Liposuction

HD liposuction is a more modern liposuction solution that can yield more desirable results. With this procedure, the fat is not only removed from the targeted area, but your underlying muscles will also become more prominent, giving you a more sculpted and athletic look. This is done by removing the layer of fat closest to the muscles, while also re-injecting fat in other areas to create the shape you are looking for. This procedure also often involves skin-tightening techniques to help keep skin in treated areas tight and youthful. A popular HD liposuction technique is VASER liposuction, which is used by many of our surgeons to achieve the best results for our clients. This technique is best for patients with good skin elasticity who are looking to create a very specific and defined shape or look, and who will be committed to an active and healthy lifestyle after the procedure to maintain results.

There are several factors to consider when choosing which type of liposuction is suitable for you, these include:

• The amount of fat that you would like to have removed.

The recovery period from the liposuction procedure may vary from a few days to a few weeks depending upon the size of the treated area and the liposuction method used. Most patients can start walking and moving shortly after the anaesthesia wears off. Normal work can be resumed within a few short days once the swelling starts to subside.

Compression garments are usually prescribed along with different medications for faster recovery. The recovery period will also depend on your body condition and skin type. Liposuction Aftercare
