Skin beauty is the best beauty asset a person can have

Healthy, glowing skin is easily one of the best beauty assets a person can have. Ideally, you want your skin to look great all year round, and not have to cover-up problems with makeup.

By restoring skin health and improving skin circulation, the skin regains its natural glow while correcting fine wrinkles and dark spots.

The CosmeSurge® program may be tailored for all types of skin problems, especially cosmetically unappealing problems. The CosmeSurge® may offer you improvement where other treatments have failed. Even if you have been dissatisfied with the results of other treatments, you will appreciate the benefits to the CosmeSurge® after just a few weeks.

Depending on your desire and individual needs, your program will be tailored to include either creams alone or a combination of creams and chemical peels. In some cases, other modalities such as vascular and resurfacing laser treatments, punch grafts, fat transfer, Botox® injections and minor surgery are used to complement the cream programs.

The CosmeSurge® Cream Program

The CosmeSurge® Cream Program is one of the most effective treatments available to enhance and beautify the skin. This program has an excellent track record for safety, and highly satisfactory results, with a low incidence of allergy when compared to other treatments.

Your individualized program will be selected based on the appropriate strength for your skin. You will also be advised of the approximate time required to achieve the desired improvements in your skin.

The Definition of Total Skin Health

We define total skin health as skin that is smooth, vibrant, clear, firm, young looking, and functioning well. Healthy skin exhibits a level of tolerance usually seen only from infancy to about 10-12 years of age. By age 12, skin begins to undergo changes that gradually alter its function and reduce total skin health.

How Skin Changes with Age And Disease

Skin, like other living tissue, is affected by many factors, external and internal, which can lead to its deterioration. For example, when pores are clogged or surface elasticity is lost, certain skin diseases may become aggravated and pores may expand in size. Acne develops when oil glands produce excess oil and pores become clogged. Brown spots and Dark Circles develop in response to internal hormonal changes and external sun exposure. Wrinkles form and firmness is lost as the skin loses collagen faster than it replaces it. Disturbances in skin functions in combination with the many other internal and external influences cause the gradual loss of what we call skin health.

Skin health is affected by the interaction of many different factors, we therefore don’t treat one problem at a time but we rather focus on correcting skin function and restoring total skin health. That is how we achieve and maintain skin beauty.

At your initial appointment, we will evaluate your skin, define your objectives, and usually begin the cream treatment program incorporating the CosmeSurge® System. The system consists of cleansers, toners, color correctors, fruit acids, retinoic acids and other pharmacological agents. Some of these agents, are available only by prescription, such as Retin-A, topical antibiotics and other medications if needed. As always, the strength of these medications can be adjusted according to your individual needs and life style.

Understanding your treatment program and your responsibilities

Our program uses every possible means to improve, correct, and beautify your skin. Your cooperation and understanding are also essential to successful treatment. To ensure the success of your treatment, you must:

  1. Define your objectives
  2. Make a commitment to achieve them
  3. Follow your treatment program.
  4. Keep your appointments.

The initial 4-6 weeks of your therapy are a transition period. During this period, your skin may temporarily exhibit redness, exfoliation, and dryness. These normal reactions to the treatment vary depending on the strength of your program.

We will teach you techniques to control these reactions, if they become uncomfortable or if you have a special occasion. Once your skin becomes stronger and its natural tolerance is restored, the reactions will gradually subside. You will then begin to experience noticeable results.

Upon completion of your treatment, a simple maintenance program will be recommended to keep your skin looking healthy and young for many years to come.

Your personal skin program will consist of four components: skin cleaning, color balancing, sun protection and skin renewal. In each program you will be able to control the process. Sun protection by using special sunscreen is highly encouraged.

A. Skin Cleaning

Products used for skin cleaning include:

1. CosmeSurge® Collagen Gentle Cleanser

2. Toner/Astringent

3. Anti-bacterial astringent, if prescribed.

To clean your skin properly, you will wash your face gently in the morning and the evening using cold water (never hot) and a cleanser selected for your skin type. After washing you will apply a toner to enhance the cleaning action and restore the natural acidity of the surface skin. An astringent (Erythromycin, Acnemycine or other), if prescribed, will be used to destroy any bacteria present on the skin's surface. Astringents reduce skin infections and acne breakouts as well as helping other medications work more effectively.

B. Skin Color Balancing

Dark spots, dark circles around the eyes, and uneven color tones from the sun, weather and hormones can make skin color dull and unsightly. The first step in restoring an even color tone can be achieved by using a lotion called Clear Tone Plus or Eldoquin Forte which acts as a bleacher in the treatment program. This product is usually needed only for the first few months on the program.

C. Skin Protection: 85% of sun aging and dark spots are caused by the sun. Most sunscreens are designed for the body and not for the sensitive skin of the face.

They become much less effective when left in the sun or heat such as the beach or the car. They are greasy and too harsh for the delicate facial skin.

Safesun Z is the ideal sunscreen for the face, effective against UVA and UVB, non-greasy, photostable in the heat and does not react with the skin (no chemical reaction like other sunscreens) but is rather a physical  transparent barrier.. It is ideal for the sensitive skin of the face and neck and for long term use.

D. Skin Renewal

Skin renewal results from enhancing skin cells function and reproduction thereby shedding the old skin. The evening renewing agent CosmeSurge® Anti-Aging Cream is used with variable quantities depending on the strength of the program, see the different approaches below

The Renewing Agent (The CosmeSurge® Anti-Aging Cream)

Retinoic Acid (Retin A) alone is an excellent agent to control acne but is too harsh for treatment of blemishes and wrinkles. In the CosmeSurge® Program, Retinoic Acid (Retin-A) is formulated in a rich emollient to decrease irritation with the addition of a botanical anti-irritation agent derived from a water lily flower extract. Lactic Acid is added to enhance skin renewal along with the essential anti-oxidants.

Our patented product also includes three natural agents to treat blemishes, brown spots, melasma or mask of pregnancy and dark circles under the eyes.

The CosmeSurge® Anti-Aging Cream is applied usually at night, although morning application several times a week may be recommended depending on your individual program.

E. Skin Reaction Control

Moisturizers – Activia Plus Lotion

Activia is recommended during the treatment to alleviate the discomfort caused by temporary skin dryness, or to improve the appearance of the skin for a special event. The Activia moisturizer reduces the effectiveness of the cream program and slows down the processes of correction and stimulation.

We suggest the following steps to stop the anticipated skin reactions at any time you desire to go on a trip, for a special event or just simply for comfort and rest for a few days.

1. Stop the CosmeSurge® Anti-Aging Cream.

2. Use the (Activia moisterizer) lotion morning and night. The reaction should stop within two days. After that you can resume your treatment program.

As the health of your skin is restored, skin reactions subside and the need for moisturizer will diminish. Healthy skin rarely feels dry, which is why the healthy skin of children rarely needs moisturizing.

Restoring skin health like everything else in life requires steady work. Success is commensurate with the effort invested. Your success in the CosmeSurge® program will depend in part on your commitment to your treatment program. We cannot promise perfection, but we do our best by suggesting the best program for your

The Aggressive Approach

This approach is suited for severe skin damage and certain medical conditions such as pigmentation problems, in this approach:

Skin cleansing with Collagen Gentle Cleanser and the Toner is done twice daily.

Skin color balancing agent (Clear Tone Plus or Eldoquin Forte) is used twice daily.

Sun protection with Safesun Z  every four hours before sun exposure.

Night renewing agent (CosmeSurge® anti-Aging Cream) is used twice daily as much as tolerance allows.

The usage of moisturizers is strongly discouraged as they slow the needed skin response.

Advantages to the Aggressive Approach

This is the best approach to correct severe skin problems, such as dark spots, sun damage, pre-cancerous lesions, large pores, scars, severe cases of acne, fine wrinkles, and skin laxity.

Results are achieved usually in weeks rather than months.

Skin tolerance is quickly restored, which makes the continuation of the treatment much more comfortable.

Stimulation of skin to increase collagen and elastin production is at a maximum, which is needed to restore the desired younger appearance.

Disadvantages of the Aggressive Approach

Temporary sunburned appearance.

Skin may feel sensitive and may burn when applying the astringent or the Clear Tone Plus or Eldoquin Forte

Occasional itching.

Lines and wrinkles may temporarily appear worse due to the temporary drying effects of the creams.

Monitoring your treatment

Ideally, you should continue the treatment 2 -4 months to replace the damaged skin cells with new healthy ones.

During treatment on the aggressive approach you should:

  1. Consume one jar of the CosmeSurge® Anti-Aging Cream in thirty days.
  2. Consume one bottle of Clear Tone Plus or Eldoquin Forte in 2-3 weeks.
  3. Avoid using the moisturizers as much as possible .
  4. Avoid sunbathing or prolonged exposure to the sun. Always wear the recommended sunscreen Safesun Z when outdoors.
  5. Avoid hot baths, hot water, saunas, and steam rooms. Warm showers are fine.
  6. Avoid waxing or bleaching your skin. If you must wax or bleach, refrain from using  or the   for five days prior.
  7. Refrain from facials for the first six weeks then start having them as usual.
  8. Expect some discomfort for the first six weeks, with improved tolerance thereafter.

The Normal and Maintenance Approaches:

When the desired skin correction is achieved, usually 3-4 months after starting the treatment program, we recommend a form of a maintenance program to keep your skin healthy. The maintenance program will utilize the following steps:

  1. Cleaning and Toning is done twice daily
  2. Sun protection is used in the day time as needed.
  3. The CosmeSurge® Anti-Aging Cream is applied every evening.

This maintenance program can be followed indefinitely to prevent future skin damage and to maintain the younger, healthier skin you have obtained. Without proper care, skin health will gradually diminish, old skin problems may return, and new skin problems may also develop.

Advantages to the Normal Approach

Greater degree of comfort during treatment than with previous approaches

Skin reaction is mild.

Moisturizers may be used as needed.

Suitable for patients with minimal skin damage.

Suitable for younger patients who want to correct acne or sun damage, mild pigmentation problems or freckles.

Suitable for patients with sensitive skin who need to begin with a milder approach and slowly move to a more aggressive approach as skin tolerance is restored.

Disadvantages to the Normal Approach

Longer period of time required for maximum results.

Not the proper approach for badly damaged skin or severe pigmentation problems such as melasma (mask of pregnancy).

During treatment with the normal approach you should:

  • Apply Safesun Z when going outdoors.
  • Consume one jar of CosmeSurge® Anti-Aging Cream in two months.
  • Consume one bottle of Clear Tone Plus or Eldoquin Forte in about two weeks.

    • For long-lasting healthy skin and youthful appearance, you should follow the maintenance program as suggested below:
  • Cleanse the skin daily in the morning and evening.
  • Use Safesun Z whenever you are outdoors.
  • Use CosmeSurge® Anti-Aging Cream every evening.
  • Undergo one superficial TCA peel once every year or two.
  • Undergo at least 2-3 hydration facials a year.
  •

    Treatment of non-facial skin

While face, hands, and arms can be treated aggressively from the start, the eyelids, neck and chest need a more gradual approach, since the skin in these location is thinner and more sensitive.

Use the Anti-aging cream at the beginning twice weekly and slowly increase the frequency of the application as tolerated. Toners, and astringents should not be used on the eyelids or non-facial skin. Keep in mind that you are in control of your treatment.

If you experience an uncomfortable reaction, reduce the amount of cream you apply, or simply stop using the renewing creams and instead use the moisturizer until you feel better. Once comfort is restored resume the treatment at a pace you are comfortable with.

What To Anticipate During The Skin Renewal Program

During your treatment, your skin will probably react in a variety of ways. It may seem ironic that the very treatment that is intended to improve the appearance of your skin temporarily makes it appear worse. However, these reactions are a normal part of the skin renewal process.

    Redness

Redness is usually mild and does indicate that skin correction is taking place. It is most common during the first three to five weeks and disappearing during the maintenance program.

    Burning, Stinging, or itching

In the process of transforming your skin from its damaged state to a healthier state, some of the creams you apply may cause burning, stinging, or etching sensations, particularly if you have sensitive skin. This sensation will disappear after a few weeks on the program as your skin builds up its tolerance. If the burning, stinging, or itching becomes unbearable, reduce the amount of creams you are applying or stop using the cream that is causing the reaction for a few days. Using the moisturizer Activia, will greatly help.

    Dryness

Temporary dryness is a desired and necessary reaction that facilitates the exfoliation of the old and damaged skin in order to replace it with new healthy layers. If dryness becomes severe or intolerable, stop using the renewing agents such as Retin-A and the CosmeSurge® anti-Aging Cream for a few days and use the Activia moisterizer several times daily until comfort is restored. Then resume the regular program.

    Wrinkles and Lines

Existing wrinkles may appear worse during the early stages of the program as a result of the temporary drying effects of the creams. The condition will disappear after one or two cycles as dryness is reduced and younger, thicker skin is restored.

    Allergic Reactions

Allergies to the cream program are rare. An allergic reaction manifests itself as swelling, itching, and blistering which extends beyond the treated area. If you suspect you are having an allergic reaction, stop using the creams immediately. Use only the and the moisturizers for healing and soothing effects and return to your skin health provider for treatment and advice.
