I have had several surgeries over the past few years (knees, eyes, sinuses) and so have had the opportunity to observe surgical teams at work both as a patient and as a physician. Thank you for your e-mail and sincere apologies for the delay in replying, but I'm back at work and as usual very, very busy. A car was arranged for me from the hospital (thank you) and I arrived at the Airport in good time. No one ran away from me while I was wandering around, so I probably looked fairly normal--I did have lots of make-up on and dark glasses! Most of the swelling and bruises have disappeared from my face; the backs of my hands are still "puffy", but I'm sure that will subside in time. I have a wonderful firm jaw line now and of course no sagging on my neck. I had the last of my sutures (from behind my ears) removed to-day and those areas have also healed very well. The bruises are fast disappearing from my tummy and IT still remains fairly flat---long may it last! Everyone I meet is very curious; they question me initially about the remaining bruises on my face and when I tell them I have had cosmetic surgery, their eyes light up and the questions come fast and furious. I have answered their questions truthfully as I have absolutely no inhibitions about telling people what procedures I had done and I also think I am a good advertisement for the work being done at the hospital. I just wanted you to know I returned to camp in one piece and survived wearing my armor on the long trip back. Everything seems to be healing well and everyday I get stronger and stronger. I hate wearing the bra and girdle though!!! Do you know when the clear “fishing” wire will come off the ends of my incisions? Will they fall out by themselves? Have yours come out?
